19 Feb 2003 from Diane Locke

Hi there, I just found this site and I am finding it very interesting. I noticed that my grand father is on this. His name was in the Grenadier Guards section. His name is Cecil Edward Arthur Titheridge and married to Edith Rose Hames at Guildford Surrey. My mum tells me that they had a child, my uncle, born out of wedlock and so his name was William Hames, this was before Dorothy and Edward were born. They lived at 2 Walnut Tree Close, Guildford, Surrey.

These are the names of the children my grand parents had. William, Edward, Dorothy, Edith, Douglas, Margaret, Bruce and Patricia. My aunty Edith married a Canadian soldier and emigrated to Canada, they called her Ciss.

My mum is Patricia and she married my dad, Roy Mortimer in 1963. They had 3 children , I was born 1965, then Marie 1966 and lastly Victoria born 1973.

Hope this is useful. I would love to find out about my grandfather's dad as I never knew any of my grandparents.

From Diane Locke maiden name Mortimer

Hello there again from Canada!!

I have nothing on your grandparents...you will have to do the research from your end. Let me know how you make out, please. You could also try Mike Titheradge, who is the Titheridge expert in England. I have copied him this letter. And, unless I hear from you by week's end I will post your letter on our web page...that might generate some answers!!

Cheers,
